Substance Abuse Treatment

Resonance offers intensive outpatient, recovery-oriented treatment to women struggling with substance abuse. Women come to Resonance as part of court-ordered diversion programs, such as Drug Court or Community Sentencing, and complete treatment in lieu of a prison sentence. Other referrals come from Probation and Parole, Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF), and Child Welfare. We also accept a limited number of women self-referring for treatment of substance abuse.

Addiction is a disease that affects both the brain and behavior. Changes in a drug user’s brain leads to harmful behaviors and criminal offenses. Women with these criminal offenses need help, not incarceration, to stop using drugs, stay drug-free, and become healthy and productive in the family, at work, and in society. Resonances addiction recovery programs create a safe atmosphere where women can talk about issues in their lives, understand the root causes of their actions, and learn how to live a healthy, substance-abuse free life.

Licensed therapists specialize in providing gender-focused trauma-informed substance abuse treatment. Resonance implemented Moral Reconation Therapy to help reduce criminogenic attitudes, beliefs, and factors, and we recently incorporated EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) into our therapeutic programming. EMDR is a psychotherapy that enables people to heal more quickly from PTSD and the symptoms and emotional distress that are the result of disturbing life experiences. Therapists provide treatment in one-on-one settings, in group sessions, and through enrichment programs such as therapeutic gardening.
